xAI released Grok 4.6, a confirmed 1.5T-parameter model built on Grok 4.5 with heavier training on long-horizon agentic tasks. It powers the newly launched Grok Bot product and scores 61 on Artificial Analysis's Intelligence Index at $2/$6 per 1M input/output tokens — well below frontier competitors.

Elon Musk's SpaceXAI has released Grok 4.5, priced at $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens. The model, trained alongside recently-acquired Cursor, is positioned as a coding and enterprise tool that claims to outperform Claude Opus 4.8 on several benchmarks while undercutting it on price by 60-76%.

Yann LeCun, former Meta chief AI scientist and founder of AMI Labs, called Elon Musk's xAI a "failure" that won't be able to compete with OpenAI and Anthropic. LeCun warned that AI labs are at risk of a "big bubble explosion" because current pricing doesn't cover operational costs, with services funded primarily by investors.

xAI has released Grok Build, a coding agent and CLI tool positioned to compete with Anthropic's Claude Code and other AI coding assistants. The early beta is available exclusively to SuperGrok Heavy subscribers at $300 per month.
