AI Mode

Google announced information agents at I/O 2025, AI systems that run continuously in the background to track topics like stock prices, flight costs, and breaking news. The feature launches this summer for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the U.S., expanding to additional markets later.

Google is adding an 'Expert Advice' section to AI Overviews and AI Mode that will display quotes from Reddit, forums, and social media above links to sources. The update also adds creator attribution showing usernames and community names, and will recommend in-depth articles at the end of AI responses.

Google is integrating AI Mode directly into Chrome's interface across desktop and mobile. The update adds inline prompts on the New Tab Page, a side panel for conversations alongside web browsing, and address bar access with file upload capabilities.

Google rolled out split-screen browsing for AI Mode on Chrome desktop, letting users view webpages alongside conversational search results. The update also adds multi-tab context search across Chrome desktop and mobile.
