Raycast has released Dictate to AI, a new command that lets users speak their requests while automatically providing AI with context from the active app. The feature builds on Screen Awareness and shipped this week as part of Raycast v2.11, according to 9to5Mac.

What Dictate to AI does

Raycast announced Screen Awareness last August. It brings context from the active app or window directly into AI Chat, "so you don't have to copy text, attach screenshots, or explain what you're looking at," according to Raycast. Dictate to AI adds voice input on top: users speak a request, and the active app's context goes to the AI without a separate explanation step.

Raycast's Pedro Duarte demonstrated the command in a post on X dated November 4, 2026.

Other additions in the release

Raycast lists these items alongside Dictate to AI:

  • Dictation AI extension: lets users use their transcriptions in AI Chat, manage their styles and get feedback on them.
  • AI usage menu bar command (Mac): tracks AI usage. It is enabled under Settings → AI → Show AI Usage in Menu Bar.
  • Contacts AI extension (Mac): lets users search, create, update and delete contacts from AI Chat.

Recent updates across platforms

Raycast also noted other recent changes:

  • Raycast Notes: now supports images and unlimited notes for free users.
  • Mac app: several performance improvements, including faster search and lower memory usage.
  • Raycast for iOS: a new keyboard with AI-powered writing tools, plus improved Cloud Sync.
  • Windows: Screen Awareness gains new commands to send individual elements or entire windows to AI Chat.

The release is Raycast v2.11. The report was published by 9to5Mac (author Marcus Mendes) on November 6, 2026. Pricing and plan availability for Dictate to AI were not stated in the report, apart from the free-tier change to Raycast Notes.

What this means

Dictate to AI combines two inputs Raycast already offered, spoken dictation and screen context, in a single command. Users no longer need to describe what they are looking at, which was the same problem Screen Awareness targeted for typed requests.

The Contacts AI extension and the Dictation AI extension also show AI Chat being connected to more system data and tools. Contacts can now be managed from chat, and dictation transcripts and styles can be reviewed there. The Windows changes to Screen Awareness mean the context-sharing workflow is not limited to Mac.
