OpenAI doubles Work and Codex quotas on Pro 100 and Pro 500 plans
OpenAI has doubled Work and Codex usage quotas on its Pro 100 and Pro 500 plans. On Pro 200 it doubled the lower quota and reversed a planned cut after user pushback. The Plus plan is unchanged.
OpenAI has doubled Work and Codex usage quotas on its Pro 100 and Pro 500 plans, according to a report from The Decoder dated October 29, 2026.
What changed
- Pro 100 and Pro 500: Work and Codex quotas are both twice the previous allotment.
- Pro 200: OpenAI doubled the lower quota and reversed a planned cut after user pushback.
- Plus: No change.
New subscriptions already include the updated quotas. Existing customers receive them automatically.
Limits on the claim
OpenAI says a doubled quota does not mean twice as many completed tasks, because consumption varies by model, task type and settings.
The expanded limits for the new "Dots" also remain in place for now. Dot usage is tracked separately from the other quotas.
Models and competition
OpenAI says it will keep shipping better models and efficiency gains to raise usable capacity. The company recently released its 6.1 models, Terra and Sol, which the report describes as much more efficient while matching or beating their predecessors.
The report places the change in the context of Anthropic preparing for its IPO, with both companies competing for B2B dominance in AI.
Pricing for the plans and the absolute quota figures were not part of the report.
What this means
The increase applies to the Pro tiers and leaves Plus untouched. Because OpenAI says quota consumption varies by model, task type and settings, the practical gain for any one user depends on workload. The reversal of the planned Pro 200 cut shows that user pushback affected the final quota decision on that tier.
