Meta now lets users have real-time voice conversations with its Muse AI agent, CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on November 5, 2026. The voice mode and "expressive" avatars are rolling out now in the US for the Muse app, Meta says.

What shipped

While you talk to your Muse agent, the avatar at the top of the conversation animates in time with the words it speaks. Users can change the tone of the voice in two ways: ask the agent for the tone they want and let it decide, or browse a set of options in the avatar settings.

Availability

  • Muse app: rolling out now in the US, according to Meta.
  • Meta's AI glasses: coming "soon," per Meta.
  • Muse Charm: voice mode and expressive avatars will also be available on Meta's forthcoming Muse Charm gadget, which is supposed to ship this year.

Pricing, the underlying model, context window and benchmark figures were not part of the announcement.

Hands-on impressions

The Verge's Jay Peters, who had the feature rolled out to his account, tested it on the iOS app. In his brief tests, the Muse agent responded quickly over voice. It occasionally paused while looking up information or checking something, as it would with a text chat query.

Peters found the avatar animation matched the speech well. For his own avatar, which he set to look like Mark Zuckerberg, the result was "a little uncanny." He also could not get the agent's voice to sound exactly like Zuckerberg.

Context

The launch follows earlier Verge coverage of Muse's adoption. One report said Meta's Muse AI had hit 10 million US downloads, and another said 10 million people had already set up Muse agents.

What this means

Voice moves Muse from a text-first agent to one users can speak with in real time, paired with an avatar that animates as it talks. Meta's stated plan puts the same voice and avatar features on the app, AI glasses and the Muse Charm gadget. The pauses Peters noticed while the agent looked up information show that tool use during a spoken exchange can introduce visible delays. The US-only app rollout means users elsewhere have no stated timeline.
