Meta Expands AI Agent Muse to Small Businesses With Shopify, Slack, Dropbox Integrations
Meta is rolling out its AI agent Muse to small businesses, connecting it to tools like Shopify, Slack, Dropbox, Stripe, and Notion. The move follows Meta's launch of a new Enterprise Platform initiative led by former MongoDB CEO CJ Desai.
Meta announced on Tuesday that it is expanding its AI agent Muse to small businesses, adding integrations with Shopify, Dropbox, Slack, Asana, Box, Canva, Figma, Granola, HighLevel, Intuit QuickBooks, Klaviyo, Lovable, Notion, Stripe, and Zoom.
The product, called Muse for Small Business, is designed to plug into the software small business owners already use to manage sales, operations, and marketing. According to Meta, the agent can also connect to Instagram professional account analytics, Facebook Pages, and Meta ad accounts, giving it context on what a business sells, how its brand sounds, and what customers ask about most.
Muse for Small Business is available for free with usage limits. Businesses that need more capacity can purchase a subscription plan; specific pricing tiers were not disclosed.
Part of a broader enterprise push
The small business rollout comes one day after Meta introduced the "Meta Enterprise Platform," a new initiative aimed at bringing the company's AI stack to businesses and developers. That stack includes Muse, Meta Business Agent, Muse API, and Muse Code.
Meta hired Chirantan "CJ" Desai, former CEO of MongoDB, to lead the initiative. His appointment signals Meta's intent to build durable enterprise infrastructure rather than one-off consumer features.
Muse itself launched earlier this month and, according to Meta, topped U.S. and Canada app store charts ahead of ChatGPT. The company has not released independent verification of these rankings, and third-party app store data was not cited in Meta's announcement.
In a blog post, Meta framed the launch around a customer insight: "Small businesses have been growing on our apps for nearly two decades. They told us they're short on hours, not ideas. So we built Muse for Small Business to help get work done with the tools they already use."
What this means
Meta is betting that a general-purpose AI agent becomes more valuable when it has deep context on a specific business's operations, rather than functioning as a standalone chatbot. By integrating with widely used small-business tools like Shopify, QuickBooks, and Stripe, Meta is positioning Muse as an operational layer rather than just a conversational interface — a different approach from OpenAI's ChatGPT or Google's Gemini, which have focused more on general assistant capabilities.
The timing also matters. This launch follows immediately after Meta's Enterprise Platform announcement and the hiring of a database industry executive to run it, suggesting Meta wants monetizable AI products, not just consumer engagement metrics. Small businesses represent a large, fragmented market with real willingness to pay for tools that save time, and Meta already has distribution through Facebook and Instagram business accounts used by millions of merchants.
The free-tier-plus-subscription model mirrors strategies used by Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 Copilot, both of which bundle AI features with existing tools rather than charging standalone fees upfront. Whether Muse can retain small business users past the free tier will depend on measurable outcomes — time saved, sales generated — rather than the app-chart rankings Meta has emphasized so far.
