OpenAI will terminate its API contract with AI coding tool Cursor on November 12, 2026, following SpaceX's acquisition of the company. OpenAI cites Elon Musk's past contract violations, including the 2022 Twitter data cutoff and admitted use of rival AI outputs to train Grok.

OpenAI announced it is ending its partnership with Cursor after the coding-assistant company's acquisition by SpaceX, cutting off direct model access on November 12. Cursor says OpenAI models account for only 5% of its traffic and is seeking to reverse the decision.

In a two-hour span Wednesday, OpenAI announced its reasoning model autonomously solved an 80-year-old geometry problem while Anthropic reported it's on track for $10.9 billion in Q2 revenue with $559 million in operating profit—two years ahead of internal projections. The developments came alongside Nvidia's $81.6 billion quarter, Anthropic's $1.25 billion monthly SpaceX compute deal, and a White House AI executive order signing.

xAI has released Grok Build, a coding agent and CLI tool positioned to compete with Anthropic's Claude Code and other AI coding assistants. The early beta is available exclusively to SuperGrok Heavy subscribers at $300 per month.
