Meta has internally decided to stop naming its AI models after fruit, a person familiar with the matter told Business Insider. "Watermelon" was the codename for Wonder Full, which Meta said is its first cutting-edge "frontier" model.

Meta launched Muse for Small Business, connecting its consumer AI agent to workplace tools including Slack, Zoom, Asana, Intuit, Box and Canva. The move follows Muse's top-of-App-Store debut on September 8 and comes a day after Meta announced a new enterprise platform led by former MongoDB CEO CJ Desai.

Meta is launching the Meta Enterprise Platform, a business unit that will sell AI tools including the Muse agent, Muse API, and Muse Code to companies. Former MongoDB CEO Chirantan Desai will lead the unit and report directly to Mark Zuckerberg.

Meta's Muse AI agent app overtook ChatGPT as the top free iOS app in the U.S., racking up 730,000 downloads in its first five days, according to Sensor Tower. The app, powered by Meta's Muse Spark model family, marks Zuckerberg's biggest push yet into AI agents.

xAI's Grok 4.6 scored nearly even with OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol Max on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, while Meta launched Muse Glimmer, a laptop-runnable open-weight model. Musk says Grok 4.7 will arrive in three to four weeks and claims it will 'exceed all current models.'

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the company will open-source its Muse Spark 1.2 model and launch a new on-device model family called Muse Glimmer. The move positions Meta against closed-model rivals OpenAI and Anthropic and against Chinese open-weight labs like DeepSeek and Alibaba.

Meta has launched AI agents for businesses on WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger that can close sales, recommend products, and book appointments. Over one million businesses in India, Mexico, and Brazil have already signed up during testing. The feature is currently free but will move to a paid subscription in the coming months.
