Tencent launched Buddy One on October 29, a system that ties its productivity apps for individual users to a single AI agent, WorkBuddy. The company announced it at its 2026 Global Digital Ecosystem Summit, alongside a new cloud storage product, Tencent Drive, which is designed as the storage layer for that agent setup.

What Buddy One connects

Buddy One links Tencent Docs, Tencent Meeting, Tencent Drive and the knowledge tool ima, all running on the WorkBuddy agent. Users get one account across the apps and one shared pool of AI credits. Tencent says memory sharing between the apps will follow, and that more products will join over time.

Users link their accounts from WorkBuddy's PC client, version 5.9.0 or later. After that, they no longer need to tell the agent which app to search or paste context in by hand. A request triggers a cross-app search over the documents, meeting records and knowledge bases the user has authorized, and the answer labels which app each source came from.

Credits bought or earned in WorkBuddy become Buddy One credits, which work across WorkBuddy, Tencent Docs, ima and Tencent Drive.

Pricing

The Buddy One VIP plan costs 700 yuan per month. It bundles WorkBuddy's top tier, Tencent Meeting Pro, Tencent Docs premium membership, shared credits and 1TB of storage.

Tencent Drive: storage for agents

Tencent describes Tencent Drive as cloud storage built for agents. It serves as the shared store for WorkBuddy, Tencent Docs and other Tencent apps. It can also connect to supported third-party agents and applications through a command-line interface and the Model Context Protocol (MCP). According to Tencent, this lets a user finish a draft with one AI tool and continue in another without re-uploading files. The WorkBuddy knowledge library feature already runs on Tencent Drive.

Enterprise features

For businesses, Tencent Drive runs on Tencent Cloud Object Storage and offers:

  • End-to-end encryption
  • Off-site disaster recovery backup
  • VPC deployment
  • Fine-grained permissions that admins can set for both employees and AI tools

Tencent also raised storage in WorkBuddy's enterprise edition from 5GB to 50GB per seat.

Open architecture plans

Tencent said WorkBuddy will open its architecture further, letting companies plug in their own agents, third-party agents and third-party messaging systems. Tencent's cloud chief Dowson Tong said the choice of model, agent and messaging app should rest with the enterprise.

What this means

Buddy One is a packaging and integration release, not a new model. The change is that WorkBuddy can now search across documents, meetings and knowledge bases in several Tencent apps from a single request, with source labels showing where each answer came from. One account and one credit pool replace separate balances in each app.

For developers, the relevant piece is Tencent Drive's CLI and MCP support. Because it connects to supported third-party agents and applications, files created in one tool can be picked up in another without re-uploading. Admin-level permissions that cover both employees and AI tools give enterprises a way to control what agents can access.

Tencent's plan to let companies bring their own agents and messaging systems into WorkBuddy is stated direction, not a shipped feature. Memory sharing between the apps is likewise described as coming later.
