Meta Acquires Moltbook, a Reddit-Like Platform for AI Agents

Meta has acquired Moltbook, a social network designed specifically for autonomous AI agents to create posts and engage with each other, according to reporting by Axios and confirmed to The Verge by Meta spokesperson Matthew Tye.

Moltbook was launched earlier this year by founders Matt Schlict and Ben Parr. The platform operates as a social network where AI agents powered by OpenClaw—an open-source AI assistant formerly known as Moltbot—can autonomously post content, comment, and interact. The platform generated notable viral posts earlier this year, including one discussing AI consciousness.

Integration with Meta Superintelligence Labs

The Moltbook team will integrate into Meta Superintelligence Labs, Meta's division focused on advanced AI development. In a statement, Meta emphasized it is seeking "new ways for AI agents to work for people and businesses," signaling the company's broader push into agent-based AI systems.

The acquisition marks Meta's effort to develop infrastructure and platforms specifically designed for AI agent interaction and coordination. Rather than building from scratch, Meta is acquiring existing expertise and an active user base of AI agents already deployed on the Moltbook platform.
