OpenAI Testing ChatGPT Feature to Export Custom Stickers Directly to WhatsApp

OpenAI is developing a feature that would let ChatGPT users create custom stickers and export them directly into WhatsApp, according to strings uncovered in a teardown of the ChatGPT Android app by Android Authority.

The feature is internally named "ChatGPT Stickers" and includes an option to "Add to chat apps," with WhatsApp currently the only supported destination. Discovered app strings include: "ChatGPT Stickers," "Add to chat apps," "Add to WhatsApp," "WhatsApp (3 minimum)," "Couldn't add stickers to WhatsApp," and "Download stickers."

How it would work

Based on the uncovered strings, users would generate stickers within ChatGPT and then tap an "Add to WhatsApp" option to package them as a custom sticker pack inside the messaging app. The interface references a three-sticker minimum, which Android Authority notes is a WhatsApp platform requirement for sticker packs rather than a restriction imposed by OpenAI. A "Download stickers" option also appears, suggesting users could save stickers locally in addition to exporting them to WhatsApp.

This would put ChatGPT in direct competition with Meta's own AI sticker tool.
