Google Voice launches $10 and $20 monthly plans with call recording and Gemini transcription
Google Voice has opened paid subscription tiers to users without Google Workspace accounts for the first time. Previously, all paid Voice features required an enterprise Workspace subscription.
Pricing and features
The Voice Starter plan costs $10 per month and includes:
- Three-way calling
- Call transfers
- Call recording
- Desktop phone support
- 24/7 support access
- Protection from number reclamation due to inactivity
The Voice Standard plan costs $20 per month (currently 50% off for six months) and adds:
- Automated call routing with auto attendants
- Gemini AI integration for call transcription
Gemini integration details
Google introduced "Take notes for me" to Voice last month. The feature transcribes calls, generates summaries with key points, and creates action items. Summaries appear in the Voice app, and Google automatically emails users a Google Doc after each conversation.
Availability
Both plans are available in the US to any user, though Google positions them toward small businesses and side hustles rather than individual consumers. Users can upgrade by visiting g.co/voice/upgrade.
What this means
This marks Google's first move to monetize Voice outside enterprise contracts. The $10 tier prices competitively against other business phone services, while the $20 Gemini-powered tier represents Google's push to integrate AI across productivity tools. The elimination of the Workspace requirement lowers barriers for solo entrepreneurs and small operations that don't need full workspace collaboration tools.
