Google launches dedicated Flow AI video and music editing apps, adds Gemini Omni upgrades
Google is releasing dedicated mobile apps for its Flow AI video editing and Flow Music production tools, starting with Android beta for Flow and iOS for Flow Music. The update integrates Gemini Omni capabilities for improved character consistency across video scenes and AI-generated music video creation.
Google launches dedicated Flow AI video and music editing apps, adds Gemini Omni upgrades
Google announced at I/O 2026 that its Flow AI video editing and Flow Music production tools are getting standalone mobile apps and integration with Gemini Omni, the company's multimodal AI model.
Dedicated mobile apps
Both Google Flow and Flow Music will now have dedicated mobile applications separate from their web versions. Flow's video editor launches first on Android in beta, with iOS support coming later. Flow Music follows the reverse pattern, debuting on iOS first with Android support arriving later. The apps are designed for "flexibility" and the ability to "create on the go," according to Google.
Gemini Omni integration
The Gemini Omni integration brings several new capabilities to both tools. In Flow video, Omni enables creators to "blend real-world inspiration with generated content" and iterate conversationally on outputs. The model also improves character consistency, preserving "identity and voice" across scenes and generations.
For Flow Music, Omni powers music video creation with the ability to "guide the styles, subjects, and scenes to match the narrative and pacing of your track." Omni Flash upgrades in both Flow and Flow Music are available as of May 19, 2026.
New Flow Agent and editing tools
Google is introducing Flow Agent, described as a "creative partner" that can assist with project planning and brainstorming. The agent can help with dialogue development, plot recommendations, and generate multiple versions of a scene for comparison. It also supports batch editing capabilities. Flow Agent is available globally starting today.
Flow Tools provide preset configurations for AI editing tasks, allowing users to create tools for video resizing, applying specific aesthetics and effects, and other common operations. Several early tools are already available.
Enhanced music editing controls
Flow Music gains more granular control over track edits, enabling changes like translation or restyling of specific sections rather than entire tracks. The tool can now change song styles "while keeping the original melody and structure," according to Google.
Background
Google Flow was first announced at I/O 2025 as an AI video editing suite combining AI-generated assets with user footage. The company added "Frames to Video" functionality later, which generates content between user-provided start and end frames. In April 2026, Google launched Flow Music as a rebrand of ProducerAI.
What this means
Google is expanding its AI creative tools into mobile applications while its competitors in AI video generation face regulatory and technical challenges. The Gemini Omni integration addresses a persistent weakness in AI video generation: maintaining character consistency across scenes. The mobile app strategy suggests Google is betting on casual creators who want on-device AI editing capabilities, though the staggered platform releases indicate the tools may still be in development rather than production-ready across both iOS and Android.
