Google builds Antigravity into Gemini app for macOS, limited to AI Ultra subscribers
Google has integrated Antigravity, its agent-first development platform, directly into the Gemini app for macOS as part of the Gemini 4 Argon rollout. Access requires an AI Ultra subscription, while the new model itself requires AI Pro or above. The update also renames and reorganizes several app features, including Gemini Spark, Skills and Connectors.
Google has integrated Antigravity, its agent-first development platform, directly into the Gemini app for macOS. The change shipped October 13, 2026, as part of the Gemini 4 Argon rollout, according to 9to5Google. Antigravity access inside the Gemini app requires an AI Ultra subscription.
How the integration works
The macOS app now shows a Liquid Glass pill for Antigravity in the top-right corner. The same button exits the mode. Pressing it launches what 9to5Google describes as the full experience found in the dedicated Antigravity application, so users can build apps, web experiences and other projects without leaving the Gemini app.
Google cites the upgraded coding capabilities of Gemini 4 Argon as the reason for the integration. Benchmark scores, context window size and API pricing for Gemini 4 Argon were not included in the source report.
Plan requirements
- Gemini 4 Argon: requires AI Pro or above in the Gemini app, as of launch.
- Antigravity in the Gemini app: requires AI Ultra.
- Subscription pricing was not covered in the source report.
Background on Antigravity
Google introduced Antigravity 2.0 at I/O 2026. The platform was previously a standalone app on Mac, Windows and Linux, and most recently arrived on Googlebook (Android). Since May, Google has shipped major Antigravity updates weekly, and sometimes every few days.
Other changes to the Gemini macOS app
The update also reworks the app's interface and renames several features:
- Chat/Task switcher: a new switcher below the prompt box. "Task" is the new name for Gemini Spark.
- Navigation drawer: Search moves to the top-right corner of the panel. A new Scheduled view lists both Spark tasks and Scheduled actions.
- Skills: users now invoke Skills with @ (mention), replacing the / (slash) command.
- Customize: a new side-panel entry that opens Skills and Connectors. Connectors is the new name for Connected Apps.
Users need the latest version of the Gemini app for macOS to see the changes.
What this means
This is a distribution move more than a model launch. Google is folding its coding agent platform into the consumer-facing Gemini client, which narrows the gap between a general assistant and a dedicated development environment. Putting Antigravity behind AI Ultra, a tier above the one required for Gemini 4 Argon, makes agentic coding a premium differentiator.
The Chat/Task split, with Spark tasks, scheduled actions and Skills in one place, points to Google positioning the Gemini app as a hub for long-running, delegated work rather than only conversation. The naming changes (Spark to Task, Connected Apps to Connectors) suggest Google is consolidating terminology across the app as features multiply.
What remains unknown is whether the embedded Antigravity matches the standalone app's update cadence. Google has not said whether the Windows and Linux versions of the Gemini app will get the same integration. Pricing for AI Pro and AI Ultra, and detailed Gemini 4 Argon specifications, were not part of this report.
