Google AI Plus drops to $4.99/month with 400GB storage, down from $7.99
Google cut the price of its AI Plus subscription to $4.99 per month and doubled storage to 400GB, down from the launch price of $7.99 with 200GB.
The plan provides 2x higher usage limits in the Gemini app compared to the free tier, with a 128,000 token context window. Subscribers get access to Daily Brief, Omni Flash video generation, scheduled actions, and expanded limits in NotebookLM, Proofread, AI Inbox in Gmail, Google Flow, AI Studio, and Antigravity.
Google's 2TB tier at $9.99 per month is now officially labeled as Google AI Plus, though the company has not clarified the distinction between the two AI Plus tiers.
The storage increase rolls out over the next few days. The price decrease takes effect at the next plan renewal for existing subscribers.
Recent pricing adjustments
This follows Google's April upgrade to AI Pro, which added 5TB of storage without a price increase. At I/O 2026, the company introduced a $100 tier for AI Ultra and reduced the highest tier from $250 to $200.
Google has not disclosed the total number of AI Plus subscribers or how the price cut might affect revenue. The company also has not announced whether the lower price point will be permanent or promotional.
What this means
Google is aggressively pricing its AI subscription services below competitors. At $4.99 per month with substantial storage and higher Gemini usage limits, the company appears to be prioritizing subscriber growth over per-user revenue. The 128,000 token context window is notably smaller than competing models—Claude 3.5 Sonnet offers 200,000 tokens, and GPT-4 Turbo offers 128,000 tokens in its API but ChatGPT Plus subscribers get different limits. The pricing strategy suggests Google is using storage bundling to differentiate from pure AI subscriptions like ChatGPT Plus ($20/month) and Claude Pro ($20/month).
