Google Gemini app adds Contacts integration to find, edit, and delete contact information

Google is rolling out a new Contacts integration for the Gemini app that enables finding, adding, editing, and deleting contact information through conversational prompts.

What the integration does

The Contacts integration, available from Personal Intelligence > Connected Apps, allows Gemini to access and modify contact data from Google Contacts and signed-in devices. According to Google, the integration can:

  • Add new contacts or delete/modify existing ones
  • Find contacts by name, phone number, or email
  • Provide personalized responses based on contact information
  • Surface important dates like birthdays
  • Share contacts with other apps when requested
  • Suggest information to save and contacts to reach out to

Example use cases

Google provided sample prompts including:

  • "What's Dana A's email address?"
  • "Add Luka C to my contacts with the phone number 800-555-0150"
  • "Update Alex M's email address to alexm@altostrat.com"
  • "Delete Charlie Z from my contacts"
  • "@Contacts who's phone number is 800-555-0150?"

Availability

As of June 5, 2026, the Contacts integration is still rolling out. 9to5Google reports seeing it available only on one AI Ultra account that has Gemini Spark access, suggesting a gradual rollout.

Connected Apps ecosystem

Contacts joins Google's existing first-party integrations in Connected Apps:

  • Google Workspace: Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Drive, Keep, Tasks, and Chat (enterprise only)
  • Search services: Search, Maps, Shopping, News, Flights and Hotels
  • Media: Google Photos, YouTube, YouTube Music

What this means

The Contacts integration continues Google's strategy of connecting Gemini to its product ecosystem, following the pattern established with Gmail, Calendar, and other Workspace apps. Unlike purely informational integrations like Search or YouTube, Contacts gives Gemini write access to modify user data—a capability that requires explicit user consent through Connected Apps settings. The gradual rollout to AI Ultra accounts with Gemini Spark suggests Google is testing the feature with paying users before a broader release.
