Google has previewed Gemini Nano 4, a new on-device language model for Android, available now in early access via AICore Developer Preview. The model comes in two versions: Gemini Nano 4 Fast (3x faster than previous models, 60% less battery) and Gemini Nano 4 Full (higher reasoning capability). The models will launch on new flagship Android devices later this year.

Google has launched task automation for Gemini on Pixel 10 Pro and Galaxy S26 Ultra, allowing the AI to autonomously use apps for food delivery and rideshare services. The feature works but is slow—taking approximately nine minutes to complete an order—and remains limited to a small beta subset of apps. Despite performance limitations, it represents the first practical demonstration of an AI assistant actually controlling a phone outside of controlled demos.

Perplexity has released Comet, its AI-powered browser, as a free standalone app for iPhone users. Originally launched on PC at $200 per month, the iOS version joins recently-released Android and existing Windows and Mac versions. The browser combines web browsing with AI assistance for summarization, research, and task automation.

Samsung is expanding Galaxy AI to include Perplexity as an integrated AI agent accessible via the voice command "Hey, Plex." The integration gives Perplexity access to Samsung's native apps including Notes, Clock, Gallery, Reminder, and Calendar, marking Samsung's shift toward a multi-agent ecosystem.
