Google and DeepMind released WeatherNext 3, an AI weather model that trains directly on live geostationary satellite data instead of physics-based simulations. The model produces hourly forecasts at up to 5-kilometer resolution and now powers weather features in Google Search, Maps, and Gemini.

Microsoft unveiled MAI-Cyber-1-Flash, its first in-house AI model for finding cybersecurity vulnerabilities, claiming it outperforms models from Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI on the CyberGym benchmark when paired with GPT-5.4. The model will power Project Perception, a suite of security agents entering public preview on August 3.

Meta released Muse Spark in early April, its first closed-source AI model that will eventually offer paid developer access. According to Arena.AI rankings, Muse Spark trails Anthropic's Claude and Google's Gemini in text capabilities but beats OpenAI's GPT in vision tasks.
