Salesforce and Anthropic Launch 'Claudeforce' Plugin With 37 Sales Skills for Claude

TL;DR

Salesforce and Anthropic unveiled Claudeforce, a plugin with 37 pre-built sales skills that lets Claude access Salesforce data and take actions like composing emails and updating records. The move comes as Salesforce shares have fallen 22% in 2026 amid investor concerns that AI could replace SaaS platforms.

Salesforce and Anthropic expanded their strategic partnership on Wednesday, unveiling "Claudeforce," a plugin that gives Claude users direct access to Salesforce data and 37 pre-built sales skills. It marks the first time Salesforce has attached its trademark "force" suffix to another company's product name.

The plugin lets Claude compose emails, update customer records, and take other sales-related actions by connecting directly to Salesforce's data and workflows, according to a company release. Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff described it as "a dynamic interface that thinks, reasons, and acts," adding, "This is how every business will run."

What's launching

Claudeforce is currently available to a select group of pilot customers. A broader preview launch is planned for next month, with additional pre-built skills expected later this year. The companies said they intend to expand integrations across Claude, Salesforce, and Slack going forward. Pricing has not yet been disclosed.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei framed the deal around enterprise data access: "Through this partnership, companies can point Claude at the customer information and business context that they've been building in Salesforce for decades — surfacing the insights that really matter and helping their businesses run more efficiently and grow more quickly."

The context: SaaS under pressure

The announcement lands amid growing investor anxiety about whether AI assistants from Anthropic and OpenAI could displace traditional SaaS platforms — a scenario some on Wall Street have dubbed the "SaaSpocalypse." Salesforce shares have dropped roughly 22% in 2026, following a 20% decline in 2025, even as the Nasdaq has climbed about 35% since the end of 2024.

The partnership news arrived alongside Salesforce's fiscal second-quarter earnings, which beat Wall Street expectations. Salesforce shares rose 12% in extended trading following the combined announcements.

Anthropic, meanwhile, has been on a steep growth trajectory. The company told investors its annualized revenue run rate reached $65 billion at the end of July — a sevenfold increase from a year earlier, according to Anthropic. The company primarily sells Claude to enterprise customers rather than consumers.

What this means

This deal is a defensive move dressed as an offensive one. Benioff is betting that embedding Salesforce's proprietary customer data and workflow governance inside Claude is more valuable than competing head-on with AI-native tools that threaten to route around CRM software entirely. If enterprises can get Claude to pull Salesforce data and execute actions without touching the traditional Salesforce interface, the partnership effectively cements Salesforce's data layer as essential infrastructure even as its front-end UI becomes less relevant.

For Anthropic, the deal secures deeper access to enterprise data that has accumulated in Salesforce systems for decades — a distribution advantage that complements its rapid revenue growth. The risk for Salesforce is that ceding the interface to Claude, even in a co-branded plugin, could accelerate the very disintermediation it says it's trying to prevent. With only pilot customers so far and a preview launch a month away, the real test comes when adoption numbers become public.
