OpenAI to integrate Codex functionality into ChatGPT app, releases 6 enterprise agent plugins
OpenAI announced during its "Intelligence at Work" livestream that it will integrate Codex functionality into the ChatGPT app "in the next few weeks." According to the company, this will add Codex capabilities to ChatGPT rather than completely merging the two applications.
The announcement came alongside the release of six new business-focused agent plugins and two enterprise features: annotations and sites.
Six enterprise agent plugins
OpenAI released plugins targeting specific business workflows:
Data analytics: Integrates with Snowflake, Databricks Genie, Hex, and Tableau to help analysts explore data, explain metric changes, and create reports.
Creative production: Works with Figma, Canva, Shutterstock, Picsart, and Fal to turn marketing briefs into campaign boards, display ads, and product imagery.
Sales: Connects to Salesforce, HubSpot, Slack, Outreach, Clay, Rox, and Actively for account prioritization, meeting preparation, and deal tracking.
Product design: Enables teams to prototype from ideas, audit user flows, and create interactive mockups using Figma and Canva.
Public equity investing: Pulls data from Moody's, Daloopa, Datasite, FactSet, LSEG, S&P, PitchBook, and Hebbia for earnings analysis and investment thesis tracking.
Investment banking: Helps bankers prepare pitch materials and analyze comparable companies using trusted data sources.
New annotations and sites features
OpenAI introduced two additional enterprise capabilities. Annotations allow users to select specific parts of documents, spreadsheets, slides, or websites and request targeted changes without regenerating entire outputs. The feature extends Codex's existing code refinement capabilities to business content.
Sites, rolling out in preview to Business and Enterprise customers, enables Codex to create and host interactive websites and apps. According to OpenAI, these can function as dashboards, project boards, galleries, or lightweight tools shareable via URL within workspaces.
Both features aim to support iterative workflows that require judgment and feedback beyond initial drafts.
What this means
OpenAI is positioning Codex as a general productivity tool beyond its original developer-focused coding application. The six plugins represent direct competition with established enterprise software in sales, analytics, and finance verticals. The ChatGPT integration timeline of "next few weeks" suggests OpenAI is moving quickly to consolidate its product line, though the company has not specified which Codex features will transfer or whether pricing will change. The annotations and sites features address a common AI limitation: the inability to make precise edits without complete regeneration, which could improve enterprise adoption rates.
