Anthropic adds Dashboards and Motion betas to Claude; Docs, Slides and Design exit beta for all plans
Anthropic launched two beta features for Claude: Dashboards, which builds auto-updating dashboards from connected data sources, and Motion, which generates animated explainer videos exportable as MP4. Docs, Slides and Design leave beta and now work on every plan, including free accounts.
Anthropic has launched two beta features for Claude: Dashboards, which turns connected data sources into auto-updating live dashboards from a text prompt, and Motion, which generates animated explainer videos exportable as MP4. The company also moved Docs, Slides and Design out of beta, making them available on all plans, including free accounts. The Decoder reported the announcement on Oct. 8, 2026.
These are product features layered on existing Claude models. No new model, context window, or benchmark results were announced.
Dashboards
Dashboards connects to data sources including BigQuery, Databricks, Snowflake and Salesforce. A user describes the desired dashboard in text, and Claude builds one that updates automatically.
According to Anthropic, every number in a dashboard shows its underlying query, so users can inspect how a figure was derived. Anthropic also says results can be piped into tools such as Amplitude, Grafana and Hex.
- Availability: paid users
- Status: beta
- Data sources named: BigQuery, Databricks, Snowflake, Salesforce
- Output integrations named: Amplitude, Grafana, Hex
Motion
Motion creates animated explainer videos from text, diagrams and images. The videos are editable as code and can be exported as MP4.
- Availability: Team and Enterprise plans
- Status: beta
- Inputs: text, diagrams, images
- Output: MP4, with code-level editing
Anthropic has not disclosed video length limits, resolution, rendering specifications, or usage caps for Motion in the material available. Separate pricing for either feature has not been disclosed; access is tied to existing plan tiers.
Docs, Slides and Design leave beta
Docs, Slides and Design are now generally available and work across all plans, including free accounts. Anthropic says more than 45 million documents have been created with these tools. That figure is a company claim and has not been independently verified.
The previously announced Claude Design will be folded into the main Claude app by December 14. Anthropic has published a migration guide for existing users.
Microsoft report
The Decoder notes that Microsoft is reportedly cutting back on its use of Claude, and suggests the traction of these tools may be a factor. This is unconfirmed reporting. The source does not give details on the scope of any reduction, and neither company's position is stated in the available material.
What this means
The notable shift is where Anthropic is competing. Dashboards targets the analytics layer that sits on top of warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery and Databricks. The per-number query visibility addresses a core objection to LLM-generated analytics: users can audit how a figure was produced instead of trusting a model's summary. Whether that holds up on messy schemas and large datasets is untested, since no accuracy data accompanied the launch.
Motion pushes Claude into video output, but through code rather than pixel generation. Because videos are editable as code, they should be easier to revise and version than diffusion-style video. The trade-off is likely a narrower visual range, geared toward explainers and diagrams rather than photorealistic footage.
Graduating Docs, Slides and Design to every plan, including free, makes Claude's document workflow a baseline feature rather than a paid add-on. Gating Dashboards to paid plans and Motion to Team and Enterprise suggests Anthropic is using the heavier, data-connected features to drive upgrades. Consolidating Claude Design into the main app by December 14 points toward a single workspace rather than separate products.
Teams evaluating Dashboards should test query transparency against their own warehouse permissions and governance rules before relying on it for reporting.
